TOM Weight Loss Review: Price, Pros & Cons

TOM Weight Loss is a small online practice run by one physician, Dr. Tran Le, for patients in Texas and Utah only. It sells two all-in monthly plans, each billed monthly and covering Dr. Le's care, follow-ups and the medication:

The price doesn't rise as your dose does. New patients get one free introductory visit with Dr. Le before committing. Semaglutide also comes as a daily pill if you'd rather avoid needles.

There's a third option, an à la carte membership at $100 a month or $200 a quarter. It covers your care with Dr. Le, but the medication is billed separately by the pharmacy. TOM publishes example pharmacy prices per four-week fill, and they climb with the dose. That membership is required for brand-name drugs like Zepbound and Wegovy, where you pay the pharmacy for the medication yourself.

Dr. Le trained at the University of Utah and McGovern Medical School and is board-certified in obesity medicine, addiction medicine and occupational medicine. TOM deliberately keeps its practice small, so you see the same doctor at every visit and message her between them. She picks the medication and starting dose, then adjusts it at regular check-ins.

Prescriptions go to licensed pharmacies that TOM doesn't name on its main pages. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

If you have Medicare drug coverage, TOM can help with a Medicare demonstration program that, for those who qualify, covers certain brand-name GLP-1s for a flat $50 monthly copay at the pharmacy. The covered drugs include Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo, and the eligibility criteria are strict. Dr. Le documents your condition and files the prior authorization. Her care isn't billed to Medicare, though. You pay for it through TOM's cash membership, on top of the copay.

TOM offers a limited refund on medication bought through its site. You must ask within 30 days of the order, and the medication must be unopened, unexpired and still sealed in its original packaging. It's inspected when it comes back, and refunds take five to ten business days to reach your card. Anything opened, tampered with or stored at the wrong temperature isn't eligible. TOM doesn't publish separate cancellation terms for its monthly plans, so ask how much notice it needs.
