Nova Review: Price, Pros & Cons

Nova bills two things each month: a Nova Care membership of $50, and the medication your provider prescribes. The membership covers the provider's review, unlimited messaging with your care team, monitoring and dose changes, refill management, and free refrigerated shipping. There's no consultation fee and no insurance billing.

Most of Nova's GLP-1 prices are shown as an all-in "starting at" figure that already includes the $50 membership: $152 a month for the semaglutide injection, $167 for the tirzepatide injection and $127 for either as a daily sublingual dose. The word "starting" matters. Nova says the final cost depends on the dose your provider prescribes, so the price can rise as your dose goes up, and it doesn't publish the price at a maintenance dose. Nova shows the exact cost before you pay, so check it there.

Nova's weight-loss program covers compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, either as a weekly injection or as a daily sublingual dose that dissolves under the tongue. You can choose a specific product, or join the general GLP-1 program and let your provider pick the drug for you.

Medication is compounded by licensed U.S. 503A pharmacies, which mix each prescription for one patient, and Nova says it's third-party tested. It doesn't name the pharmacies, and care comes from an independent medical group it also doesn't name. It does name its clinicians: medical director Dr. Micah Craig, a board-certified internist, and nurse practitioner Priscila Vidal. You track orders and message your provider in the Nova app.

Nova says it serves 49 states, with California listed as coming soon. You're matched with a provider licensed in your state during the ten-minute assessment. Provider review takes 24 to 48 hours.

Nova says you're only charged if a provider prescribes. Its refund policy adds a catch: membership and consultation fees are generally non-refundable once the clinical review is complete, even if the provider declines to prescribe. If you're found ineligible before any review, for example because of your state or a failed ID check, you can ask for a full refund within 30 days.

Medication can be refunded if you cancel in writing before the pharmacy starts compounding it. After that, refunds cover only pharmacy errors, damaged shipments reported within seven days, or lost packages.

You can cancel the membership from your account. It runs to the end of the paid month, with no prorated refund, so cancel a couple of days before your renewal date.
