Walgreens Weight Management Review: Price, Pros & Cons

Walgreens Weight Management is a telehealth service that connects you with a doctor or nurse practitioner about brand-name GLP-1 drugs. You pay $49 per online visit, with no subscription. The medication is a separate bill, paid at the pharmacy through your insurance or as cash.

For people paying cash, Walgreens points to the drugmakers' own savings offers. The headline is Wegovy injections at $199 a fill for your first two fills, at the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg starting doses, for eligible self-pay patients new to Wegovy. After those two fills the price goes up, and the offer runs through December 31, 2026. The Wegovy pill starts at $149 a month at its lowest dose for self-pay patients, with higher prices at higher doses.

So your monthly cost is the visit fee plus whatever your pharmacy charges for your drug at your dose. Get that second number before you start.

Every option is FDA-approved. The clinician can recommend Wegovy as a weekly injection or a daily pill, Zepbound as a weekly tirzepatide injection, Foundayo as a daily pill, with the current product list focused on those three brands. There are no compounded drugs. The clinician weighs your BMI and medical history and recommends the one that fits.

Lilly and Novo Nordisk publish their own self-pay prices for Zepbound and Foundayo, and Walgreens lists those offers in its fine print. Each offer has rules, such as refilling within a set number of days to keep the price, so read them before you pick a drug on cost alone.

You start the visit online. Depending on your state, it happens by chat or video. Clinicians from Walgreens-affiliated independent medical practices write prescriptions when appropriate, with prior authorization support for eligible commercially insured patients. You can fill the prescription at Walgreens or any pharmacy you choose.

General care covers all states except Alabama and Louisiana. The Medicare pathway has additional exclusions, so check your state before starting.

Eligible Medicare patients can start or continue care through Walgreens Medicare Weight Management. The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program runs from July 2026 through December 2027 and offers certain GLP-1s for $50 a month to eligible Part D members. Visit costs aren't included, and prior authorization is required.

Before you book, confirm three things: that your state is on the list, what your insurance covers for the drug you're likely to get, and what that drug costs at the dose you'll reach after the starter offer ends.
