Elara Health and Wellness Review: Price, Pros & Cons

Elara sells a GLP-1 program, not just a prescription. One fee, charged every four weeks, covers the medication if it's prescribed, a clinician on your plan, metabolic labs every quarter at Quest or Labcorp, a call with a certified health coach every three weeks, messaging with your care team and shipping. The fee is the same at every dose.

There are three medications, each priced separately: compounded semaglutide injections, a compounded oral semaglutide tablet, and compounded tirzepatide injections. Tirzepatide costs the most and the oral tablet costs more than the semaglutide injection.

Each comes on four terms:

• 4 weeks, billed every four weeks with no prepayment. This is the highest rate.
• 12, 24 or 52 weeks, charged up front, each lower than the last.

The headline "from" prices are the 52-week rates. Because billing runs every four weeks, a 52-week plan covers 13 billing periods. Elara also offers new patients a discount on the first four weeks if you sign up for its email list.

Elara spells out what happens if you stop partway through a prepaid plan, which helps. You can cancel early with no exit penalty, but the weeks of care you've already had are recalculated at the rate for the next shorter plan. Elara's own example: someone who ends a 52-week semaglutide plan after 16 weeks is repriced at the 12-week rate for those weeks, and the difference comes out of the refund.

On a four-week plan there's no cancellation fee. Canceling stops the next renewal. Either way, once a period's medication has shipped, that period isn't refundable. If you cancel before the pharmacy fills the order, Elara will work to refund it. Cancellation goes through the care team by email or phone, weekdays from 9 to 5 Eastern.

Elara Health and Wellness is run by JTE Medical, LLC. Clinical care comes from OpenLoop Healthcare Partners, PC, a physician-led team of doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Elara doesn't compound medication itself. It names four state-licensed pharmacies that prepare its prescriptions: RedRock Pharmacy, Health Warehouse, Precision Compounding Pharmacy and Triad Rx.

The free assessment takes about five minutes and asks for your health history and any prior GLP-1 records. If you aren't approved, you aren't charged. Medication usually ships within a week of approval, and your first coaching call comes around week three.
