WeightWatchers Clinic Review: Price, Pros & Cons

WeightWatchers Clinic is the medical side of WeightWatchers, sold as a membership called Med+. The membership pays for the clinicians, the care team and the coaching. The medication is billed separately, either through your insurance or as a cash purchase.

Both plans renew automatically for another full term at the same monthly rate unless you cancel. So the $74 figure is a year-long commitment that rolls into a second year if you don't stop it. There's no month-to-month Med+ plan, and the membership price never includes the drug.

WeightWatchers prescribes only FDA-approved, brand-name GLP-1s such as Wegovy and Zepbound, and says plainly that there are no generic options. If you have coverage, a Med+ care team handles the insurance calls, prior authorizations and refills, and some members pay little or nothing for the drug.

Without coverage, you pay the self-pay price on top of the membership. WeightWatchers lists self-pay prices on its individual medication listings, with lower prices at starting doses and a discount for buying a 12-month supply up front. Work out your total as membership plus drug before you join, and ask the care team what your plan covers at the dose you're likely to reach.

You start with an online quiz about your health history. If you look like a fit, you have a private telehealth visit with a board-certified clinician, who decides whether medication is right for you. Medical care comes through WeightWatchers' affiliated medical group, WeightWatchers Clinic.

If you're prescribed, many plans ship the drug to your door. Otherwise the prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose. After that, you keep checking in with your care team on a regular schedule.

Med+ includes the GLP-1 Success Program, a behavior program built for people on these drugs. You get nutrition counseling and fitness plans, workshops in person or online, and round-the-clock help in the WeightWatchers app. The care team is reachable almost around the clock.

WeightWatchers serves members in all 50 states. Before you sign up, ask how to cancel before your plan renews and whether any part of a prepaid term is refundable, since WeightWatchers doesn't spell that out next to its prices. The $25 first month only applies when you buy a 6- or 12-month plan.
