Alegro Health Review: Price, Pros & Cons

Alegro Health & Wellness is a small nurse practitioner-led practice in McKinney, Texas, that treats weight and women's hormones in its clinic and by telehealth. Its advertised weight-loss offer is an eight-week compounded semaglutide starter, with vitamin B12 added, for $199. That's one payment for eight weeks, and it's available in select states only.

Beyond the starter, prices aren't published. Alegro says its weight program has no monthly fee and uses all-inclusive pricing, one payment per prescription with no hidden charges. You get an emailed invoice for the visit and the prescription after your consult, if therapy is recommended. Ask for your refill price, and the price at higher doses, before your first visit. Tirzepatide isn't listed with a price.

Alegro doesn't take insurance, though it will give you an itemized receipt to submit yourself. Credit, debit and HSA cards are accepted.

1. Book an "Initial Consult" online and choose your state. A card holds the slot, but nothing is charged when you book.
2. Fill in your intake forms at least 24 hours before the visit.
3. Join the video visit from the link sent by email and text. Log on five minutes early, because clinicians can't wait more than five minutes for a late start.
4. If you're prescribed, the medication ships to you with the supplies you need, plus dosing guides and how-to videos.

For refills, you log in to the patient portal and either book a follow-up visit or request a follow-up form. Prescriptions depend on the clinician's judgment, and the options include GLP-1s as well as phentermine, bupropion, Contrave and topiramate, subject to state rules.

• No refunds. Alegro doesn't refund services or products once provided, and dispensed medication can't be returned.
• Late cancellation fee. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead, or a $50 fee applies, and the same goes for no-shows.
• Location matters. You must be in a state where Alegro's providers are licensed at the time of your visit. People who have visited the McKinney clinic can be treated and shipped medication for up to a year afterward.
• What isn't named. The compounding pharmacy and a medical director aren't listed.

The clinic is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and until noon on Saturdays. There's also a refer-a-friend offer worth $50 to each side.
