Genesis Lifestyle Medicine Review: Price, Pros & Cons

Genesis Lifestyle Medicine doesn't publish a price for any of its weight-loss treatments. Its FAQ says program costs depend on your treatment plan and goals, and that your provider reviews every cost with you before treatment starts. So the first real number you'll see comes at the consultation.

Genesis doesn't bill insurance directly, and it says most weight-loss programs aren't covered anyway. If your plan might reimburse part of the cost, the clinic can give you documentation to submit yourself. Patient financing is offered. Ask for the full monthly cost in writing, including the medication, lab work and follow-up visits, before you agree to a plan.

Genesis is a chain of med spas and wellness clinics, with 15 locations: four in Tennessee (Nashville, Hendersonville, Franklin and Murfreesboro), four in Texas (Dallas, Frisco, Fort Worth and Grapevine), two in Nevada (Las Vegas and Henderson), and one each in Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Fort Collins, Orlando and Cumming, Georgia. Weight loss sits alongside hormone therapy, IV drips, hair restoration and aesthetic treatments.

Genesis offers telehealth appointments, and it says medical weight loss may be managed remotely, depending on your location. Injections and some other services need an office visit. If you don't live near one of the clinics, call before booking to ask whether you can be treated by telehealth in your state.

The weight-loss program starts with a consultation covering your health history, habits and past attempts at losing weight. Your provider may order labs, including metabolic, hormone, kidney and liver markers, before deciding on a plan. Genesis says treatment can sometimes start the same day, or after your lab results come back.

Dosing isn't on a fixed schedule. Your provider raises the dose gradually based on how you respond, and follow-up visits are weekly, every two weeks or monthly, depending on what you need. Nutrition and lifestyle coaching are part of the program.

Genesis prescribes brand-name Zepbound and Wegovy, and its Zepbound page says that drug is prescribed after an in-person evaluation. Phentermine is offered too.

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are available, but Genesis says it prescribes them only when a provider decides a compounded version makes a meaningful clinical difference for you compared with the FDA-approved drug. The compounded medication is made by a licensed compounding pharmacy that Genesis doesn't name. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Before you book, ask:

• What the brand-name and compounded options would each cost you per month.
• Whether lab work and follow-up visits are included or billed separately.
• How to cancel the program, and whether any part of a prepaid plan is refundable.
