Choosing care in Houston

Houston-area patients can choose between remote weight-management care and local programs that coordinate medical assessment, nutrition support, and follow-up. Baylor Medicine and UT Physicians both publish medical weight-management services. Neither listing is a promise that a particular medication will be prescribed. Use the program details below to identify the right starting appointment and confirm the services you want.

Baylor Medicine: start with medical weight management

Baylor Medicine’s Weight Loss Center describes a medical pathway that begins with an assessment of health history, goals, and underlying conditions. Its published services include an individualized plan, medication when appropriate, ongoing monitoring, nutrition counseling, and behavioral support. The page directs prospective patients to schedule with one of its primary care doctors to get started.

Baylor’s Family Medicine page separately describes a nonsurgical weight-management program with nutrition and behavioral-health support. Its primary-care page lists 713-798-7700 for Family Medicine appointments. When calling, specify medical weight management so the scheduler can direct you to a relevant clinician. Ask which location and appointment format apply to your visit. A general primary-care booking does not establish that every listed service is available at every office.

UT Physicians COMMP: medical care in Bellaire

The Center for Obesity Medicine and Metabolic Performance, known as COMMP, describes a multidisciplinary approach involving obesity-medicine clinicians and registered dietitians. Its program addresses nutrition, activity, sleep, and stress, and considers anti-obesity medication according to the patient’s health. It also describes referral access to bariatric surgeons when appropriate. A program housed within a surgery department can still provide medical weight-management care.

The current COMMP page and Bellaire Station clinic listing give the location as 6500 West Loop S, Suite 200-E, Bellaire, Texas 77401-3535, with appointments through 713-486-1330 and the clinic’s appointment link. The clinic states that it sees adults. Confirm the address in your appointment instructions: older documents can show a different West Loop address. Request current instructions from the office before arranging travel.

Compare the whole visit plan

Tell either office whether you want a nonsurgical medical assessment, help coordinating existing treatment, or information about procedures. Ask what records to bring, whether your insurance requires a referral, and how tests and follow-up are arranged. Contact your insurer about the specific clinician and service, since a health system’s general participation does not establish coverage for an individual visit or prescription.

For Houston-area travel, compare the actual appointment site with where you will complete any tests and return visits. If considering an online program, ask the same continuity questions: who provides clinical follow-up, where local testing happens, and how an in-person assessment is arranged when needed. Keep consultation charges, medication charges, and insurance decisions separate when comparing your likely out-of-pocket cost.

Local weight-management resources

These local resources are separate from the online affiliate programs above. Services, insurance acceptance and appointment availability must be confirmed directly. Listing a program does not establish that it prescribes a particular GLP-1 medication.

Where is the current COMMP clinic?

The current program and Bellaire Station pages list 6500 West Loop S, Suite 200-E, Bellaire, TX 77401-3535. Use your appointment confirmation for final arrival instructions.

Do I need a referral for a Houston weight-management appointment?

Ask the office and your insurer about the clinician and service you want. The sources reviewed do not establish one referral rule for every program, patient, or insurance plan.

Sources and verification

Local information was checked against these official sources. The provider reviews carry their own pricing and verification dates.

This guide provides general educational and consumer information, not medical advice. A licensed clinician decides whether treatment is appropriate. Online access is not a local clinic address; a listing does not guarantee eligibility, insurance coverage or a prescription.
