Wegovy Pill Cost in 2026: Self-Pay Prices, Insurance and Care Fees
The short answer
As checked October 16, 2026, the manufacturer lists Wegovy pill self-pay prices of $149 for 1.5 mg, $199 for 4 mg, and $299 for 9 mg or 25 mg per 30 tablets. Eligibility restrictions apply. Insurance costs vary, and clinician visits, memberships or laboratory fees may be additional.
Section index07
The $149 Wegovy pill headline describes one tablet strength. It does not describe every refill, every insurance plan or the total cost of a telehealth program. For a useful comparison, write down the medication price at the prescribed strength, the quantity supplied and every separate care charge.
Prices below were checked on October 16, 2026. They are published U.S. manufacturer program prices, subject to eligibility, restrictions and change. They are not a personal quote or a promise of continued availability. This article focuses on cost; the pill versus injection guide addresses formulation and efficacy evidence.

Current Wegovy pill self-pay prices
The manufacturer's cost page gives the following monthly self-pay prices. It defines a pill month as one bottle of 30 tablets1.
| Wegovy tablet strength | Published self-pay price | Supply basis |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 mg | $149 | 30 tablets |
| 4 mg | $199 | 30 tablets |
| 9 mg | $299 | 30 tablets |
| 25 mg | $299 | 30 tablets |
The lower price should not be carried through a full-year budget if a different strength is prescribed later. Nor should cost determine which strength you take. Follow the prescriber's plan and the product instructions; the table is a billing reference, not a dosing recommendation.
A 30-tablet bottle differs from four weekly injections, which represent 28 days. Comparing both as simply “one month” hides a supply difference. Check the actual count and refill timing when comparing cash outlay. For the broader calculation, see true monthly GLP-1 cost.
Why the first price may not be the ongoing price
Wegovy has different tablet strengths and a prescribed escalation schedule. A starting-strength quote is insufficient for a long-term budget. Ask the clinician which costs could change if your prescription changes, without assuming that you will follow an identical course to another patient.
For illustration, twelve 30-tablet bottles priced at $299 would total $3,588 and supply 360 tablets. That is arithmetic for twelve bottles at an unchanged price, not a first-year treatment forecast or a full 365-day supply. It excludes visits, tests and membership fees.
If a hypothetical care membership costs another $75 per month, twelve membership payments add $900. The combined example becomes $4,488 for those twelve medication bottles and twelve fees. Clearly separating the two costs prevents a low enrollment price from obscuring the ongoing bill. None of these hypothetical care fees is a quote from a particular provider.
Commercial insurance: what “as little as $25” means
The manufacturer advertises a commercial-insurance savings offer as low as $25 monthly, subject to a maximum savings of $100 per month. Government beneficiaries are excluded from that commercial offer, and other eligibility restrictions apply1. The advertised minimum is not a guaranteed copay for everyone with an insurance card.
Ask the pharmacy to check your plan's actual claim, deductible and coverage before relying on a savings-card headline. If your starting out-of-pocket amount is high, a capped savings amount may leave a substantial balance. A plan may require prior authorization or may exclude weight-management medication.
Confirm coverage for the Wegovy pill specifically. Coverage for an injectable product, a diabetes medicine or another strength does not establish coverage for this prescription. Our insurance and prior-authorization guide explains what documentation and questions can be useful.
Medicare: check the current Bridge rules
CMS's Medicare GLP-1 Bridge demonstration runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. Eligible beneficiaries have a $50 copay for covered drugs under that program. Eligibility and prior authorization matter; this is not automatic access for every Medicare member2.
CMS says the Bridge operates outside the usual Part D coverage and payment flow. The Part D deductible does not apply, the $50 does not count toward true out-of-pocket costs, and the low-income subsidy does not lower that program copay2. Ask the prescriber and pharmacy which coverage pathway applies to your diagnosis and prescription.
Do not try to use the commercial savings-card terms as Medicare terms. They are separate arrangements. Our Medicare and Medicaid guide explains why the drug, indication, program and plan must be checked together. Do not assume the temporary Bridge terms describe coverage after 2027.
Is the medication included in a telehealth subscription?
Ask for a written breakdown. Some programs charge for clinical care and arrange a separate pharmacy purchase. Others present a combined price. A membership that mentions access to Wegovy does not necessarily include the tablets, and a prescription is subject to clinical eligibility.
Confirm the initial visit fee, ongoing membership, follow-up appointments, prior-authorization help and any laboratory charges. Ask whether shipping is included and whether the medication charge appears on the same invoice. If a service provides both brand-name and compounded products, establish exactly which product its advertised price describes.
Our provider reviews discuss published program terms. Use them to compare the service around the prescription, rather than assuming every listed program offers the pill or includes its cost. A plan should explain what happens if insurance denies coverage before you commit to recurring fees.
Avoid false comparisons with other oral products
Wegovy tablets are not the same prescription as Rybelsus or a compounded oral semaglutide preparation. A lower price for a different product does not establish equivalent FDA approval, absorption, dosing or outcomes. The oral semaglutide guide addresses these distinctions.
The current Wegovy prescribing information includes tablet-specific administration requirements3. Ask whether that routine fits your mornings and other medicines. A product that is cheaper on paper may be a poor practical choice if you cannot follow its instructions; discuss alternatives with the clinician rather than improvising administration.
Do not buy an unidentified oral product because an advertisement uses “Wegovy alternative.” Our online-pharmacy safety guide explains how to check the prescription and dispensing pathway.
Get a refill quote before enrolling
Ask for the current price at each possible prescribed strength, the supplied tablet count, the required care fees and the cancellation terms. Confirm what happens if the manufacturer changes its program or the pharmacy cannot fill the prescription. An enrollment discount should have an end date and an ongoing price you can understand.
Keep the written quote with the offer date. Recheck it before a large prepayment or a change of care service. The research library links cost and safety guidance so that a pricing decision can be considered alongside the clinical and practical demands of treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Wegovy pill $149 every month?
The published self-pay price is $149 for 30 tablets at 1.5 mg. The manufacturer lists $199 at 4 mg and $299 at 9 mg or 25 mg, subject to eligibility and change.
Does a telehealth membership include Wegovy tablets?
It depends on the program. Request separate medication, membership, visit, laboratory and shipping charges before enrolling.
Can Medicare patients use the $25 savings offer?
The commercial offer excludes government beneficiaries. The separate Medicare GLP-1 Bridge has eligibility requirements and a $50 copay for eligible beneficiaries during its stated period.
